Every year the Ladies Golf Associates sponsor a "Rally for a Cure" golf tournament with hole sponsorships and a luncheon. A live and silent auction is held the night before the tournament which is always a popular event. There are also a number of other activities the day of the Rally including the "gently used" equipment sale, nearest to the pin contest, and a putting contest on the putting green. This year the gentleman took part as well during their Friday Men’s Day with a closest to the pin event. All the proceeds raised from the Rally go to the Southwest Florida Affiliate of Komen for the Cure (formerly the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation). Thanks to the hard work of many voluneers and participants Pelican Sound raised over $40,000. from all the events in 2009. Bringing the total over the past seven years, to $222,400. |
