 Chelsea Tee Time System
Pelican Sound uses the Chelsea Tee Time system to request and book tee times. It is an automated system which may be accessed via phone, website or the touch screens located in the hallway near the golf shop and in the ladies and men's lounges. This system is an excellent tool in creating equitable tee time allocation for all our members.

The golf season is divided into two distinct time frames. The first, “Season”, is generally from November through April. The second, “Summer”, is generally from May through October. During Season it is required that all tee time requests and bookings be made through Chelsea. During the summer, members may use Chelsea to secure tee times; however, it is not required as play/requests are generally very low. Summer also includes reciprocal play at area clubs during the months from May through October (see the Golf Shop Staff for more information).

Chelsea is available to our members 7 days a week, 24 hours a day! Each day the system is shut down for processing from 5:00 p.m.- 5:30 p.m.. If you attempt to reach Chelsea during this time, you will hear a busy tone (via phone) or the website will not open (via computer). Please make a note of this when planning to make your tee time requests.

The Golf Shop is open year round for your convenience:
Season (Oct.-April)  Daily 7:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.

Summer (May-Sept.) 7:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday ~ Sunday
The golf course, practice area and golf shop are closed on Mondays.

Local Rules

Please drive carts on fairways only (use entry & exit points) No carts on rough

On all par 3’s, keep golf carts on path at all times

When approaching the green, return to the golf cart path

Please observe the cart directional signs located in front of the greens (par 3’s not included)

Golf Course Etiquette
Please rake sand traps, fill divots, repair ball marks on greens,
and always leave the golf course in better condition than you found it!

The golf course is reserved for golfers only.
This rule is to protect residents and guests from the dangers associated with a golf course, such as errant golf shots, maintenance vehicles and chemical applications applied to the course.
If you are not playing golf, you should not be on the golf course.
This includes jogging, ball-hawking, dog-walking and any other non-golf activity on the course.

Pace of Play
Please help us maintain a reasonable pace of play and tee time schedule by doing the following:

Arrive at the golf course and check in a minimum of fifteen minutes before your tee time.

Be ready with water, towels and other supplies when the starter calls you to the tee.

Play should be an average of 14 minutes per hole.
This is a 9-hole pace of two hours and six minutes, or an 18-hole round of four hours and twelve minutes.

Try to keep up with the group in front of you, not ahead of the group behind you.

Minimize your search for lost golf balls.

Ranger Flag System

                               Pace is acceptable
Play is slow, you must speed up your pace
Pick up your ball and move to next tee

Handicap System

Important things to remember about the GHIN handicap system:
If you desire to play in competitive golf events, you must have a GHIN handicap and you must post scores. Post scores online wherever you play golf on the GHIN website.
See the golf shop for your GHIN user number.

Lightning Prediction System
Pelican Sound has a warning system which alerts players that the conditions are right for lightning.
The sirens sounds when lightning is possible and players should clear the course, it sounds again when the danger has past.

1-15 second siren means: red alert course closed
3-15 second sirens meas: all clear course open

Lighting can strike without warning from a clear blue sky. Why chance it? When you hear the warning system sound or thunder in the distance, it’s time to take cover. Our lightning prediction system is here for the protection of our members and maintenance crew, so even if you're not on the golf course, there are probably people who are. During the rainy season, please have patience; we know the horn is loud but it’s necessary for the safety of everyone.

What to do?
Players should take every precaution to protect themselves.

Seek shelter in a large permanent building or a fully enclosed vehicle like a car, van or truck; not a golf cart. If neither are available, seek the lowest elevation in an area not near water.

Avoid tall objects such as trees & poles, large open areas, wet areas, and metal objects such as golf clubs and golf carts.

The USGA emphasizes that players in a competition have the right to stop play if they think lightning threatens them, even though the committee may not have authorized it specifically by signal. (Rules 6-8 and 33-2d)
