Q: What fees can I expect from Pelican Sound & Assocaion?

Paid To Pelican Sound by Buyer
•The Resale Capital Fee which is equal to the current year’s master association annual assessment.

All-outstanding Club Charges on the members account.

•The Application for Approval to Purchase fee is $100.00 paid to the Neighborhood Association.

Q: What happens after the closing ?

A: Please bring your closing papers with you to your scheduled appointment, as we will need a copy for our records. At your new member orientation, we will complete the process by setting up an account, assigning your membership number, issuing your Photo ID Member Cards and arranging for a parking pass or permanent parking decal. We will also review important rules, answer your questions and give you a Member’s Handbook and “Welcome Packet” of information for you to take home and review to help acquaint you with the rules of the Club and its many activities. Congratulations! Now it’s time to enjoy the many opportunities included with your membership at Pelican Sound.

If your purchase was a mail-away closing, please arrange to have a copy of the closing (HUD) statement sent to the Membership Office via mail or fax; your closing agent or Title Company will be happy to accommodate this request. Complete and return the forms mentioned above and we will contact you via email or mail with your membership number, website user name, password and a copy of the member newsletter. Please contact us and schedule an appointment prior to your first visit for the New Member Orientation.


Q: How do I get a Florida Driver's License?
If you are a United States Citizen with a valid out-of-state Licenses.

• For a driver's license, you must have resided in Florida for 30 days and provide proof of residency such as an envelope with your Florida address.
• Any person who holds a license or identification card from the District of Columbia, United States Territories or one of our 50 states (with the exception of those listed below) may present his/her license or ID card as primary identification document.
• An approved secondary identification document  is also required. 
   A Secondary Identification Document may include, but is not limited to, the original or certified copy of one of the following:
     1. School record stating date of birth, which must contain the registrar’s signature.
     2. Transcript of the birth record filed with a public officer charged with the duty of recording certificates.
     3. Baptism certificate, which shows date of birth and the place of baptism.
     4. An insurance policy on the customer’s life which has been in force for at least two years and has the 
        month, day and year of birth.
     5. United States military or military dependent identification card.
               Effective April 10, 2002, United States Military ID cards with an officer rank will be
               accepted as proof of citizenship only; however, not as proof of primary identification. 
    6. Florida or out-of-state driver's license, valid or expired.
    7. Florida license record or identification card record.
    8. Selective Service Registration (Draft Card).
    9. Florida Vehicle Registration certificate (HSMV 83399, owner’s copy) obtained from the tax collector’s office where the customer’s vehicle was registered, Florida, or out-of-state registration certificate, if name and date of birth are shown.
   10. Florida and out-of-state non-driver identification cards (state issued).
   11. Receipt copy of your last Florida driver's license issuance.
   12. Immigration form I-571.
   13. Federal form DD-214 (military record).
   14. Marriage certificate.
   15. Court order, which includes legal name.
   16. A Florida voter registration card, which was issued at least 3 months previously.
   17. Personal identification by an examiner or by a person well known to the examiner.
   18. Social Security Card (Chapter 322, Florida Statutes, requires the Department to
        collect social security numbers for the issuance of driver license and identification cards).
   19. Family bible record or birth announcement in baby book.
   20. Parent consent form of minor.
   21. Out-of-country driver's license or identification card, government issued

• A social security number, if issued (Chapter 322, Florida Statutes, requires the Department to
  collect social security numbers for the issuance of driver license and identification cards), MUST be 
  included on the application.
  Note: The name assigned to the social security number must match the name that will appear on
  the Florida driver's license or identification card. If you have recently changed your name, update
  your records with the Social Security Administration before you apply for your license or identification card.

Important Note: Driver licenses from the following states
Alaska, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska,
New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee,Texas, Utah, Vermont
Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin
are acceptable as secondary identification and to reciprocate driving privileges, it must be accompanied
by one of the following:

1. Original or certified United States birth certificate (including territories and District of Columbia)
2. Valid United States passport
3. Certificate of Naturalization.

Q: How do I register my car?
1. If you have an out-of-state license and it has not expired beyond 30 days, you may be able to convert your license without taking a written or road test. Review the requirements for citizens and non-citizens.

2. Obtain vehicle insurance from a company licensed to do business in Florida--in other words, visit a Florida insurance agent.

3. Take your proof of Florida insurance; your original out-of-state title and verification of the motor vehicle's *vehicle identification number (VIN), completed on form HSMV 82040 or HSMV 82042 to your local Florida county tax collector's office. If there is more than one owner on the out of state title for transfer, all applicants must sign the application or all applicants must be present.

4. In the state of Florida, a motor vehicle is required by law to be registered within ten days of the owner either becoming employed, placing children in public school, or establishing residency. Registering your motor vehicle goes hand in hand with the titling process.

5. VIN verification is required for all USED motor vehicles not currently titled in Florida, including trailers with a weight of 2,000 pounds or more.
     *The VIN must be verified by one of the following: 
     1. A law enforcement officer from any state.
     2.A licensed Florida or out of state motor vehicle dealer.
        NOTE: If the VIN is verified by an out of state motor vehicle dealer,
        the verification must be submitted on their letterhead stationary.
     3. A Florida DMV Compliance Examiner/Inspector, DMV or tax collector employee.
     4.A notary public commissioned by the state of Florida. 
     5.Provost Marshal (an officer who supervises the military police of a command) or
       a commissioned officer in active military service, with a rank of 2nd lieutenant or higher
       or an LNC, "Legalman, Chief Petty Officer, E-7".

6.If the out of state title is currently in the possession of an out of state lienholder, the tax collector's office will assist you in contacting the lienholder to obtain the title. The lien will be recorded on the Florida title when issued and will be mailed to the lienholder.


Q: How do I register to vote?
Voter Registration is handled by the Supervisor of Elections. 
Any person at least 18 years of age, who is a citizen of the United States and a permanent resident of Florida and of the county where he wishes to register, is eligible to register with the Supervisor of Elections. Once registered, if you vote at least once every four years, your registration is active and permanent.

Forms may be obtained and completed at the Lee County Supervisor of Elections satellite office at 24951 Old US 41 Suite 10, Bonita Springs. This office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

It is located on the east side of Old 41 about two blocks south of the US 41/Old 41
intersection, just north of the railroad tracks.

Registration forms can also be obtained at public libraries, Chamber of Commerce, Dept of Motor Vehicles, AAA Motor Club sites throughout the county. Information on registration forms may be obtained by calling (239) 533-8683.
